What language do you want to see tutorials in?
06/03/08 5:52 PM

I kind of make assumptions when writing tutorials (and sometimes I'm just lazy on coding) but I'm curious to hear everybody's opinion on this.

What language would you prefer to see tutorials in? AS2 or AS3? Let me know why too please if you have a moment to comment on it.

AS3 is the future of Flash, obviously, but it doesn't make too much of a difference on coding, as long as all can understand both languages.
My vote is AS3.

I vote for AS3 too,
for beginners like me it is difficult to run and understand examples which are in AS2, so many methods are not in AS3, so it was a hardtime finding alternatives..

btw Thanks graeme, your tutorials are very knowledgable :)

Anymore votes for one or the other?

I will vote for AS2 . I think AS3 is not that mature yet , many people not studied it yet. At least for one year more i will vote for AS2

Hi i am really glad to find this site. its great. i vote for as3!...however, i have realized that there is very limited information out there on using FMS with Flex is there going to be a tutorial on that. most RIAs now are being built with flex and the integration with FMS is somewhat of a mystery. :))

thanks great great job

Flex and FMS tutorials are on their way. Shouldn't be too much longer once I can clear my plate of work. So many things going on at once... But thanks for the suggestion!

i think as2 of definitely a step backwards. with a product like cs4 out and flex 4(gumbo) coming soon, it would be no good to advocate for pushing new tutorials in as2. a language developed 4 years ago when as3 hold 10 more speed and power. besides...most of the tutorials on the net on flash media server are ALL as2...time has moved forward..and we need to move along as well :)))) dont mean to sound harsh. as3 is the way forward. i think we all know that deep down.

Hi Mr. Graeme,

this is my first entry, so.. thank you for the great tuto´s and the funny stuff you say on some of them.

Back to the topic..

I would say, with the new Flash CS4 and the 3D features that only work with AS3, it´s time for us to move on and get used to AS3 before AS4 comes out.

I vote for as2 not that i use this one but whoever has upgrade his knowledge to ac3 he can understand as2 also...
But someone who is still learning ac3 and he is using as2 its not so easy for him.

Keep on the good work
