RE: RTMFP Peer2Peer Chat Application

Hey Graeme,

Thank you for your response and explanation for the lack of the detailed documentation and examples on RTMFP...

I would be gratefull if you could create a tutorial covering the basics about it when you have free time.

Thanks again for your expertice and help. Really appreciate it..
Best Wishes with Kind Regards

RE: RTMFP Peer2Peer Chat Application

You're very welcome and thank you for the compliments.

RTMFP has been around for a bit but has been unreachable with the licensing that was in place. Combine that with the low reliability rate due to closed off networks for the high ports that the protocol requires, has definitely stalled development and demand for it.

I can cover the basics in it in a tutorial for sure with an app we made a while back that does text, audio and video. As soon as I have a free moment I'll see if I can put that together.

RTMFP Peer2Peer Chat Application

Hi There,

first of all, i would like to thank you for this web site and all those great tutorials you create... i can't thank enough

With the latest versions of FMS, RTMFP is introduced and it's using Peer2Peer connection which affects the application performance greatly. Since it's something new, i can not find a fully covered tutorial about creating an application ( video or chat app ) that uses RTMFP

It would be great, if you can create a tutorial about it, or lead me to an address, if you know that it covers the basics...

Best Regards

RE: How to get the amount of clients connected with Wowza

I'm not sure what you might be doing wrong. The tutorial is reasonably simple I think and should update the Flash side with the latest connection count. I'm not able to check over your script though as I don't have much time outside of doing a crazy amount of work that is coming through. You should be able to get the netConnection call from Wowza over the netConnection client object and then update the text box on the stage with the new count. As long as you have the call coming from the onConnect function on the server side. Good luck!

I use Willow and in there I can see 12 connections to the application but there is no change in the script you make in the tutorial. Can you check that out, also you can find it here Script also if you want I can provide you with the .Fla file so you can see is the same as the tutorial.

Thanks and thank you for the tutorial.

fms/as3 chat smiley

I'm looking for some guidance for my project in which there is no real tut or information about this and after spending a long time looking for tuts or other projects on the web there still nothing out there that makes it
clear or understandable on how to incorporate smileys in an as3 chat room all i have found is alot of people asking the same questions with no answers. the reason i ask you for guidance as i've learn't alot form your tuts and you seam to be one of few that will take the time explain in depth.

what i'm looking to do is have an user xml file and folder so the user can can pick and upload the own smiley png or gif and load into chat html. my chat is based on this tut using fms ive done alot to it but this is the basics of the chat[link] http://metah.ch/blog/2008/05/a-chat-with-fms-3-coded-in-actionscript-30/[/link]
I also have some other example files for using smileys if needed.
i would be grateful if you could shed some light on this subject and im sure their would be alot of people out there grateful.
thanks again colin

This technique on IOS

Hi,

Although an old tutorial, I am using this technique quite well in my application. With the introduction of FMS 4.5, I'd like to stream this to an IOS device. I have tried to access the rtmp stream via the /hls-live/ URL using HTTP protocol, but it returns a URL not found error. All my videos are MP4 (H264/AAC).

How can I enable streaming to IOS with this technique?

Thanks,
